Born from the silence of the pandemic. Built to resist the absurd.
Apathy Contemporary Foundation is a non-profit arts institution officially registered in Singapore in 2025. Its founding vision first emerged in Guangzhou, China, in 2023, as a thoughtful and urgent response to the absurdity, silence, and societal dislocation laid bare by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Grounded in an independent curatorial and intellectual stance, the Foundation is committed to fostering contemporary art as a space for critical thought, philosophical reflection, and social inquiry. In recent years marked by absurdity and apathy, Apathy Contemporary has come forward as an uncompromising and compassionate voice—one that confronts the urgencies of our time with depth, integrity, and care.
Through our exhibitions, publications, and research-driven programs, we address a wide spectrum of contemporary concerns—from questions of identity and displacement to technological transformation, power structures, ecological crisis, and the fragmentation of memory and meaning.
We believe that art is not merely a medium of aesthetic pleasure, but a vital force for provoking thought, generating discourse, and sustaining openness. Our initiatives are rooted in sustained dialogue and rigorous inquiry, with the aim of creating a platform for marginalized narratives and experimental artistic practices.
We actively support artists and thinkers who challenge dominant paradigms and work to expand the imaginative, ethical, and intellectual boundaries of our shared reality.
